School Priorities 2023 - 2024

Key Ofsted actions from last report:

Curriculum plans are well sequenced. Leaders identify the key knowledge and essential vocabulary for pupils to learn. However, the full implementation of the school’s curriculum is not yet firmly embedded, due to delays from the COVID-19 pandemic. At this point, only the first year of the two-year cycle has been implemented. Consequently, there are no well-established routines for the reinforcement of pupils’ learning from previous years. Leaders should continue their work to ensure that the well-planned curriculum is fully embedded to enable pupils to deepen their knowledge and understanding over time.

Key areas to develop or further improve from Sept.2023 – July 2024

  1. Curriculum plans are well sequenced. Leaders identify the key knowledge and essential vocabulary for pupils to learn. The full implementation of the school’s curriculum is firmly embedded. There are well-established routines for the reinforcement of pupils’ learning from previous years. Leaders should continue their work to ensure that the well-planned curriculum is fully embedded to enable pupils to deepen their knowledge and understanding over time.

  2. To review our computing curriculum across the school and to support teachers so that they are confident in delivering highly effective IT lessons that are really equipping pupils with the IT knowledge and skills that they require.

  3. To develop our writing curriculum across the school from Nursery to Yr.6, supporting both the teaching and learning of writing alongside the assessment of writing. Ensuring also that there is a real focus on a clear plan, training and support for developing the writing skills of SEND pupils and reluctant writers across the school.

  4. To embed our new vision statement across all aspects of school life; developing an excellent relationship with our new vicar Revd. Mitzi in developing strong links between the school and the parish of St. John and St. Luke. In doing so preparing the school for our SIAMS inspection, under the new framework.

  5. To review the way in which we monitor and support teaching and learning across the school by developing a new model of coaching and training all staff through being supported by HEP. To develop a coaching and supportive programme of developing and consolidating all members of staff’s teaching skills so that we are maximizing the learning and general development of all pupils.
