In Ruby Class, early mathematical skills are embedded in every aspect of our learning. Whether we’re counting steps on a nature walk, exploring patterns in the classroom, or sharing fruit during snack time, maths is everywhere!
Through hands-on activities, play, and exploration, the children are developing key mathematical skills such as counting, sorting, comparing, and problem-solving. They learn to recognize shapes, measure objects, and spot patterns, all while building confidence in their ability to think mathematically.
Our daily routines also provide natural opportunities to embed maths. From counting how many children are present to discussing the days of the week, these simple moments help children connect numbers and concepts to real-life situations.
In Ruby Class, we encourage curiosity and a love of learning through open-ended questions and activities. For example, building with blocks might spark conversations about size and symmetry, while a role-play shop encourages adding and subtracting in a fun and engaging way.
By fostering these skills early, we aim to give every child a strong foundation in maths, helping them to develop reasoning, creativity, and a lifelong enjoyment of problem-solving.
