Reflections

We believe it is of the utmost importance to give children time and space to pause, reflect and make meaning of the world around them. Through sharing thoughts, prayers, artwork and written responses, our pupils learn to look inward, outward and upward — developing a deeper sense of themselves, others, and God’s presence in their lives.

This page brings together a collection of reflective moments from across our school. Each piece shows how our children are growing in wisdom, compassion and understanding as they explore big questions, express their feelings, and think about what matters to them.

We hope these reflections offer a glimpse into the thoughtful, spiritually rich learning that takes place every day at St John’s.

Zara's Reflection: The Journey of Life and Death from a Christian Perspective

As part of our learning about life, death and beliefs about the afterlife, Zara created this thoughtful reflection exploring how different religions view the journey of life. Her work demonstrates an understanding of the similarities that unite people of faith, recognising that all individuals are part of a shared human journey.

Zara focused particularly on the Christian belief in Heaven, describing it as a place of peace, love and eternal happiness in the presence of God. She supported her ideas with a Bible verse from 1 Corinthians 2:9, showing how Christians draw on scripture to understand and express their beliefs about eternal life.

This piece of work highlights Zara's ability to reflect deeply on important questions about faith, hope and what happens after death. Her thoughtful response demonstrates respect for different beliefs and the reflective thinking encouraged through Religious Education.
