Curriculum

In Ruby Class, our early years curriculum is thoughtfully designed to nurture curiosity, creativity and a lasting love of learning. We follow a two-year rolling curriculum which ensures that Nursery and Reception children experience a broad, well-balanced and connected sequence of learning that develops progressively over time. Our themes offer a meaningful structure while remaining flexible enough to respond to children’s interests, discoveries and questions as they emerge.

Our curriculum draws on high-quality early years pedagogy, educational research and the professional insight of our team. It places equal importance on knowledge, skills, attitudes and character formation, ensuring children grow intellectually, socially, emotionally and spiritually. Rich learning experiences, carefully chosen texts, purposeful play and opportunities for creative and physical expression immerse children in a stimulating, language-rich environment in which they are encouraged to explore, think deeply and express themselves.

Our school values of confidence, compassion, forgiveness, endurance, justice and respect are embedded throughout our curriculum. They shape our ethos and day-to-day practice, helping children to develop positive attitudes, thoughtful behaviour and a strong sense of belonging within our school community.

We are a reflective, collaborative team who plan with intention and insight. Our curriculum balances child-initiated learning with carefully sequenced adult-led teaching, enabling every child to be supported, challenged and recognised for their individual strengths. Independence, imagination and a meaningful connection to the natural world are woven through our practice, allowing each child to develop confidence, curiosity and a secure sense of self as they learn and grow.
