Two-Year Curriculum

At St. John’s teaching and learning is our vision in action. We aim to give every child the opportunity to grow and flourish, both in the classroom and through enrichment and extracurricular experiences. Through our nurturing community, we support and inspire every child to discover their gifts and broaden their horizons.

With being the smallest school in Enfield, we are unique in our class groupings. We have four classes composed of two-year groups.

Ruby

Nursery and Reception (N/R)

Sapphire

Year 1 and Year 2 (Yr 1/2)

Diamond

Year 3 and Year 4 (Yr 3/4)

Emerald

Year 5 and Year 6 (Yr 5/6)

To meet the needs of our mixed-age classes, we follow a two-year curriculum cycle; Year A and Year B. This ensures full coverage of the National Curriculum while allowing children to revisit key concepts, deepen understanding and apply learning in new contexts.

We are currently in Year A of our curriculum cycle (2025/2026).

See the long-term plans below to see what your child will be learning about this year.

Additionally, knowledge organisers can be found here. These guides are full of key vocabulary, facts, diagrams and timelines to support learning in class and at home.

Together, we learn, grow and flourish.
