At St John's, teaching and learning bring our vision to life. Our curriculum is designed for all children and is built on the belief that every pupil can succeed. We provide a broad, balanced and ambitious curriculum that is accessible to everyone, with high expectations for all learners. Every child is encouraged and supported to participate fully, make excellent progress and achieve their potential.

Through carefully planned teaching strategies, adaptive practice and evidence-informed pedagogy, we ensure that pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), those from disadvantaged backgrounds, and children who speak English as an Additional Language (EAL) can access the same high-quality curriculum as their peers. Appropriate scaffolding and targeted support enable all pupils to achieve challenging learning outcomes, while maintaining our high aspirations for every child. We do not lower expectations through separate or reduced curricula; instead, we adapt our teaching to ensure all pupils can engage, succeed and thrive.

With being the smallest school in Enfield, we are unique in our class groupings. We have four classes composed of two-year groups.

To meet the needs of our mixed-age classes, we follow a two-year curriculum cycle; Year A and Year B. This ensures full coverage of the National Curriculum while allowing children to revisit key concepts, deepen understanding and apply learning in new contexts. 

We are currently in Year B of our curriculum cycle (2026/2027).
