Our Church

At the heart of our school community is St John’s Church, a place of worship, reflection and shared life. As a Church of England school, we are proud to share a deep bond with the parish. The church supports our spiritual life, school celebrations, and values.

A Brief History

The roots of St John’s Church run deep in the local community. (Here, you might insert historical highlights from Clay Hill Parish: founding dates, notable events, architectural features, etc.) Over the years, St John’s has grown as a spiritual and civic centre in Clay Hill and north Enfield. Many generations of parishioners, staff, pupils and families have been part of its story.

Today, the church continues to serve not only as a place of worship but as a partner in education, pastoral care, and community outreach. Its presence enriches school life in many ways.

How We Work Together

Collective Worship & Assemblies: Regular church services and assemblies are held in partnership with St John’s clergy. These gatherings help us live out Christian values and enable pupils to take part in acts of worship and reflection.

Christian Values in Action: Many of our school’s values—such as respect, forgiveness, compassion, justice, confidence and endurance—are rooted in Christian teaching. The church supports us in embedding these values into our daily life.

Church Visits & Events: Throughout the year, the school visits the church for events such as Harvest, Christmas services, Easter celebrations, Pentecost and school-leavers’ services. These moments help children experience faith, community, and tradition in person.

Pastoral Care & Support: The church offers spiritual support to pupils, families and staff. Whether through special services, prayer time, or pastoral presence, St John’s Church is part of our extended school family.

Community Engagement: Together with the church, the school reaches out to the local community through events, charity work, and acts of service, striving to be a positive presence beyond the school gates.

A Place of Welcome

St John’s is more than a place for school services; it is a welcoming parish church at the heart of Clay Hill, serving the local community. Families of all faiths and none are invited to share in worship, attend community events, and find a place of belonging. The church offers a space of welcome and prayer, and our close partnership ensures that both the parish and school enrich one another’s lives.
