Computing

At St John’s, computing encompasses the imparting of ever-evolving, modern skills to our students, aligning with the National Curriculum objectives. This educational approach places a strong emphasis on online safety, both within the school environment and at home, ensuring that students are equipped with the necessary knowledge to navigate the digital landscape responsibly. These digitally literate individuals will be able to think computationally, solve problems creatively and be able to understand the impact technology has on their lives.

Through the careful blend of theory and hands-on practice, children are able to explore key areas such as programming, data representation and digital media. The integration of iPads and laptops into the learning environment caters to the needs of the digital era, fostering a dynamic and interactive learning experience for students. Lessons are sequences to build knowledge and progressively support all learners. Furthermore, the use of IT is seamlessly integrated across various subjects to enhance understanding. By embracing these technological tools, staff at St John’s are nurturing a generation of learners who are adept at utilising digital resources effectively.

To support our digital learners further, there is regular engagement with parents to discuss current issues and give support to help them navigate the digital world, aiming to support and protect their child at home.
