Safeguarding

At St John’s School, we are committed to ensuring that every child in our care is safe, feels safe, and is well looked after. To this end, robust safeguarding processes and procedures are in place to support pupils, families, staff and volunteers. In line with statutory guidance and best practice, any concerns are referred to our designated safeguarding leads, who are fully trained in child protection.

Shine Like Stars

As our school motto states, we want every child at St John’s to “shine like stars.” This means helping them thrive both mentally and physically. We actively promote good health, wellbeing and personal development, while ensuring that children are safely and effectively cared for, protected from harm, and supported to grow in a safe environment.

Reporting Concerns

If, at any time, you are worried about the safety of a child, you can approach any member of our Child Protection Team to share your concern. If you do not feel able to approach them directly, please speak to any member of staff, who will know how to follow up and ensure the concern is addressed appropriately.

Use of Images

When your child joins St John’s, you will be asked to complete a permission form regarding the use of images. This covers whether photographs of your child may be published on the school’s website, newsletters or in press releases. If you would like to change your preferences at any time, please contact the school office.

Use of Cameras and Digital Images (Parents/Carers)

At certain special events (e.g. concerts), there may be an opportunity at the end for parents/carers to take photographs for personal use. Please note that during events, photographs or videos are not permitted. We also ask that any images taken must not be distributed or put online unless they feature only your own child. This is to protect and safeguard all members of our community.

Online Safety

Keeping children safe online is a vital part of safeguarding at St John’s. Pupils learn how to use technology responsibly, recognise potential risks, and know what to do if they ever feel unsafe. Online safety is embedded across the curriculum through computing, PSHE and assemblies, and we work in partnership with parents to encourage safe and healthy online habits at home as well as at school.
