On behalf of our school community, I’d like to welcome you to St John's C.E. Primary School.

As Chair of Governors, I feel deeply honoured to lead a highly professional and committed Governing Body who always seeks to ensure that every child can succeed and reach their full potential. As Governors, we are responsible for overseeing the management side of the school; strategy, policy, budgeting and staffing, while ensuring that the school maintains its beliefs, vision and values. We work closely with Mrs Notley and her team to enable them to provide superb education to the children in our care.

We consider nurturing and supporting the whole school community, both pupils and staff, an essential part of our responsibilities. In this, we work alongside Mrs Notley and her Senior Leadership Team, who have responsibility for operational decisions about the day-to-day running of the school.

Governors regularly visit the school. They meet with pupils and staff so that they can gain an understanding of the curriculum, teaching, pupil progress and ethos. The success, well-being, welfare and safety of pupils and those teaching them are central to our reviews.

To ensure that we feel confident in being critical friends, we undertake ongoing and rigorous training to update us on pedagogical and other issues pertaining to the school’s long-term success.
