Curriculum Maps

In Ruby Class, our curriculum is designed as a two-year rolling programme that enables Nursery and Reception children to learn together whilst progressing at their own pace. Each year follows the same broad themes, but the content, activities and expectations are carefully tailored to children’s ages, stages and interests.

Our approach balances structure and flexibility. Termly themes provide a shared focus that connects learning across the seven Areas of Development, whilst staff adapt planning to respond to children’s curiosity and emerging ideas. Over two years, this ensures that every child experiences depth, challenge and continuity as they grow in confidence and independence.

The curriculum blends purposeful play with focused teaching, giving children the freedom to explore, create and build secure foundations in communication, literacy, mathematics, and personal and social skills. Our aim is for every child to leave the Early Years as a capable, confident learner who is ready for the next stage of their school journey.
