Pen Disco Party

Ruby Class have been having a fantastic time taking part in Pen Disco, an activity that brings Nursery and Reception together for joyful mark making and a shared creative experience. With colourful pens in hand and music playing, the children move, swirl, and dance their pens across the paper — building those all-important fine motor skills that support early writing. Guided by a clear visual tutorial, they follow each movement with focus and enthusiasm, transforming the session into a lively moment of learning and expression.

Pen Disco is a much‑loved part of our EYFS early writing practice. It helps children develop control, coordination, and confidence while making mark making feel exciting and expressive. Watching the children concentrate, experiment, and enjoy the movement of their hands and fingers is a real delight.

What truly stands out is the way Nursery and Reception learn alongside one another. The children collaborate naturally, offering encouragement and celebrating each other’s efforts. These sessions nurture not only fine motor development but also a strong sense of community and shared purpose.  As always, Ruby Class is a wonderfully happy place to learn, play, and grow together.
