Website Accessibility Statement

This website is run by St John’s C.E. Primary School, and this statement applies to www.stjohnsprimarysch.org.uk.
This website is maintained and supported by Juniper Education, who work with the school to ensure ongoing accessibility and compliance.

We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, you should be able to:

  • Change colours, contrast levels and fonts using your browser or device settings

  • Zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen

  • Navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software

  • Listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand. AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

Accessibility Features
  • Responsive design: The website adapts to work on various devices and screen sizes, including desktop computers, tablets and smartphones.

  • Keyboard navigation: The site can be navigated using a keyboard to support users who cannot use a mouse.

  • Text readability: Clear, legible fonts, sufficient colour contrast and adjustable text size enhance readability.

  • Alternative text: Images and graphics include descriptive alternative text to assist users with visual impairments.

  • Captioning and transcripts: Multimedia content, such as videos, includes captions or transcripts where applicable.

Non-Compliance with the Accessibility Regulations

We know that some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

  • Images: Some images may not have alternative text. This fails WCAG 2.2 AA success criterion 1.1.1 (Non-text Content). We will address this when notified.

  • Videos: Some videos may not have frame titles, captions or transcripts. This fails WCAG 2.2 AA success criterion 1.2.2 (Captions) and 2.4.2 (Page Titled). We will rectify this when notified.

  • Links: Some links may not have descriptive text. This fails WCAG 2.2 AA success criterion 2.4.4 (Link Purpose). We will rectify this when notified.

  • Tables: Some tables may not have defined headers. This fails WCAG 2.2 AA success criterion 1.3.1 (Info and Relationships). We will rectify this when notified.

  • Colour contrast: Some brand colours may not meet the minimum contrast ratio for smaller text. This fails WCAG 2.2 AA success criterion 1.4.3 (Contrast Minimum). We will review and amend as required.

  • Keeping up to date: We stay informed about evolving accessibility standards and best practice.
