Plastic pollution

Alexia completed a very detailed survey about her family’s views on plastic pollution as part of our Geography project on pollution. Well done Alexia.


Mum:

1. Why is plastic pollution a real issue in the world?

Because not enough people are recycling and too many things are made out of plastic that can not be recycled.

2. How is plastic harmful to wildlife?

Because they are eating the plastic without realising.

3. What else do you think you could be doing to reduce plastic pollution?

By buying less plastic and recycling more.

4. How will you stop plastic pollution?

By thinking about each item, I buy from the shops.

5. How will you shop differently?

By thinking about each item, I buy from the shops.

6. What can you use again?

I could reuse my coffee cups and my water bottles.

7. What else can you use instead of plastic bags and bottles?

I will use my bags for life.

8. How are you recycling?

I have asked the council for a bigger recycling bin.

9. What are you doing to help the environment?

I am trying to make changes where I can.

10. How can we encourage more people to use less plastic?

I will explain the differences they will make if they use less plastic?

Sofia:

1. Why is plastic pollution a real issue in the world?

Because it is damaging and killing our animals.

2. How is plastic harmful to wildlife?

It is killing out animals and the parents are feeding their children with plastic as they don’t know what is good to eat and what is not.

3. What else do you think you could be doing to reduce plastic pollution?

We could be using reusables bottles and bags and not use plastic bottles or bags.

4. How will you stop plastic pollution?

We can stop plastic pollution by not using plastic bottles or plastic bags and instead we use reusable bottles and bags.

5. How will you shop differently?

I will shop differently by not using plastic bags when we shop and use reusable ones.

6. What can you use again?

You can use water bottles and bags.

7. What else can you use instead of plastic bags and bottles?

You can use a water bottle, bags (that are not plastic).

8. How are you recycling?

I am putting the plastic bottles in the correct recycling bin.

9. What are you doing to help the environment?

I am not using plastic.

10. We can encourage other by putting posters about what our world will look like if we don’t look after our world.

DAD:

1. Why is plastic pollution a real issue in the world?

Because it doesn’t decompose.

2. How is plastic harmful to wildlife?

If they eat it, it will be stuck in their throat and if it goes in the sea fishes will die.

3. What else do you think you could be doing to reduce plastic pollution?

Stop using plastic (use paper bags).

4. How will you stop plastic pollution?

Try and stop production of plastic.

5. How will you shop differently?

Be more aware of what you are buying.

6. What can you use again?

Reusable coffee cups and water bottles.

7. What else can you use instead of plastic bags and bottles?

I can use paper bags.

8. How are you recycling?

By putting things in the right bin.

9. What are you doing to help the environment?

Recycling.

10. How can we encourage people to use less plastic?

Pay them, give them incentives.
