On Tuesday evening two teams of ‘debaters’ represented the school in the Enfield Town School Partnership debating competition. In front of a large audience all the children performed extremely well, displaying confidence, composure and quick-thinking. The year 6 team discussed the motion ‘Should the current ULEZ zone be reduced in size?’ and argued vehemently against this. The year 5 team debated the motion that ‘ All children in primary schools should receive free school meals.’ To everybody’s great delight the year 6 team won overall on the evening and are now through to the final in a couple of weeks. Congratulations to all of the children who participated, you were a credit to St. John’s.
